Q & A       - REUNION QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1,            "Must" I attend the Pearl River Delta Tour?

The Working Com "strongly suggests" that all classmates take part in that activity since it provides us all an uninterrupted 4 days get together. It is not a "must" in the legal sense; rather it is in a social sense, like "you must come to see me".

Classmates are most welcome even if they can only join us for a cup of coffee. So, please, you "must" come.

2,        How do I contact working members or find that club?

As time approaches, we shall publish more information including detailed addresses, directions, and members' home and Mobil phone numbers to assist you.

We shall take good care of you. Pls contact the HK Working Team members by email or phone or fax numbers shown in the forms and we shall promptly get back to you. That is a promise.

3,            Donations - Should I show the HK$ 400. in the Donation Form for the Golden Anniversary Reunion Hard Copy Book and DVD?

No. The HK$ 400 is for the purchase (not donation) of a copy of the Book and DVD. To produce the book and DVD, it costs much more than that amount, and that is the reason for soliciting donations. Only donated amount is to be shown in the Donation Form.

4,        POST REUNION TOURS - Would like to know more about the East China, Yunan, and Cambodia Tours.

Tours info is being added in the http://www.ipuiching.net/ web site. Pls visit it. These are tour company standard tours. Since it is still early, no definite departure dates, or costs are available. Since these are rather popular tours, there is usually 2 or 3 each such tour per week from each company. There are many companies.

If we have 15 or more persons for a specific tour, we can form our own tours, which will follow our own dates, route, and other preferences. Flights to Shanghai and Yunnan from HK are frequent and no problem.

So, pls let us know who and how many are interested in which route. We shall give you more info to suit your needs.

5,        Can I ask realities and friends to join?

Yes. They are welcome. They will be your guests. Pls show their names, ages etc in your application form for processing. A little introduction of your guests will be helpful. Lets use the same costs.

6,        Do I need a Visa to go into China?

Yes, definitely for foreign passport holders. Your travel agent can explain to you.

If you hold a US or Canadian passport, you need a Visa for each entry into China. There are Single entry, 2 entry and multiple entry visas. Suggest you get the Visa in your country of residence before departing to come to HK. Multiple visa is more difficult to get. 2 Entries is easier.

You can also apply a Visa while in HK. But why take the hazzle and worry instead of relax and enjoy while you are over here?

If you hold a valid HK ID card and a "Return Country Home Certificate" (Wai Heung Chin}, you can go HK-China-HK freely.

7,        Hotel accommodation and air tickets – any suggestions?

Hotel accommodation in HK can be quite expensive if you "walk in". The best rate is to get a "package deal" of hotel plus air ticket before leaving NA.

Pls contact your RR, Helen Ho on this one. Ong KM is working on this. By May 05 possible deals should be known.

8,        What and Where is LO WU SHING?  Any Border Crossing info.

Lo Wu Shing is in Shenzhen, 200 meters from the Shenzhen-Lowu border exit. It is a big, big building of 6,7 floors housing many hundreds of small retail shops, small and big eateries.

Some HK ladies love to go there to do some "low cost shopping". You can buy "low cost" brand names of "about anything" there. Husbands need to find somewhere to sit while wives shop, shop, shop from shops to shops…

The border closes at about midnight. So you can hang around there or visit the Shenzhen "Book City" (a place for "intellectuals"), have dinner in Shenzhen then cross the border and take the train back to HK. The train runs every 7 or 10 minutes. Train terminal has now extended to East Tsimshatsu (near Sheraton Hotel).

9,            Donation Purposes: Does General Fund cover Anni Book Publishing?

The General Fund ("4" in the Jan 24 form) is a "catch all", covering Publishing, Teacher Invitation, and any common expenses and contingencies.

Inviting Teachers (1) and Book Publishing (2) and Scholarship (3) are specific. You can switch the purposes by email me, but we cannot without your specific approval.

If you have some "other purposes" (5) in mind other than the above, pls specify in your own words, and we shall follow your instruction.

We suggest that for most classmates, you may pls specify General Fund (4 in the Form), or Scholarship (3 in the Form). That should work out fine.

Pls contribute.   "doe doe yick shan, shiu shiu but kui".  Got it?     Thank you.

10,      If we cannot make it to HK by Nov 26, how and where and when I can find and join you guys?

Important thing you do is to contact us early and often and we shall then be able to guide you. Our home and Mobil numbers will be given to you. Have a Mobil phone with you that work in HK and Delta area.

The welcome and registration party is at noon, on Nov 26. Place is at Kowloon Cricket Club, 10 minutes walk from Jordan Subway Station.

Departure for Delta Tour is early morning of Nov 27. From the same ferry terminal (Canton Road, Kln), there runs many ferry routes, at several departures a day to each destination.

Those who miss some of the front part of the gathering will be given priority to Chao ST's home dinner on Dec 1.  You must inform us early though.

You of course want to make sure to be here on Dec 2, the Big Day.

Day activity on Dec 1, 3, and 4 can be quite flexible and groups can be formed when we meet and during the Delta tour.

If at all possible, be in HK by Nov 26. You'll relax and enjoy more.
